Division II Commander Deploys to Iraq
By Lou Cummings
Division II bid a fond farewell to
their commander Bill Cummings as he packed his duffel bags and headed for Iraq
on November 11. Bill’s relocation has
taken him to Camp Victory in Baghdad where he will be assisting the Defense
Finance and Accounting Office in their mission of supporting the soldiers on
the ground.
Prior to departing to Iraq, Bill
spent a week at Fort Benning, GA where he had mandatory deployment briefings to
include the rifle range, IED training, to name a few. Additionally, Bill underwent numerous
immunizations to ensure that his body was ready to fight a myriad of diseases
that might come his way.
Bill’s billeting arrangements
includes sharing a small trailer with a room mate and enjoys a 1.5 mile walk to
his office each day. The work days are
very long there…typically 12-14 hrs daily.
Bill’s unit works Saturday and Sundays as well, but they do try to limit
those days to 8 hours.
Bill reports that the culinary
experience is not too bad. The Army
cooks are taking good care of him and he has three squares a day.
Bill is scheduled to return stateside
near the end of April (when the ice is off the lake!). Bill would truly enjoy hearing from his USCG
Auxiliary family. Please address all

Bill will be missed by all here. We wish him fair winds and a speedy return!
